Explanation of Hypnotherapy

What am I to expect?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all enter into inadvertently many times a day. We automatically go into hypnosis anytime we become deeply relaxed or highly focused on a given activity. For example, people frequently inadvertently become hypnotized when they are driving, reading, watching TV or a movie, engaging in sports, blow drying, showering, and under many other circumstances. Anytime a person mentally lets go of their current reality for an extended period of time, hypnosis can occur.

During a hypnosis session, you may feel many of the following sensations.

You won't feel all those signs but you will undoubtedly feel a few of the signs. During the session about 90% of clients are able to hear and consciously remember 50-100% of the session. This is normal because hypnosis is not sleep and it is not being unconscious. When you are hypnotized, you are actually more aware—not less aware. You will be more aware of your body, more aware of your breathing, more aware of outside sounds and smells. Even better, your memory will be much sharper. That is why hypnosis works so well.

As your conscious mind becomes highly focused and/or deeply relaxed, it is as if a doorway to your subconscious mind appropriately opens, enabling you to receive the suggestions you desire. One of the wonderful things about the subconscious mind is that it automatically accepts the most positive messages it is offered.

Remember that all hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis. Even though you are in the presence of a Certified Hypnotherapist, you will actually be hypnotizing yourself. A Hypnotherapist gives clients suggestions that help them to focus and relax but it is still up to each client to focus and relax and to allow the hypnosis to occur. The more focused and relaxed you become the more open the door to your subconscious mind becomes — which enables you to receive more suggestions, more powerfully.

Even if you only relax and focus slightly, you will probably be at least 20 times more open to suggestion than you are right now, as you read this. If you go into a medium or deep level of hypnosis, you could be hundreds to thousands of times more appropriately opened to suggestion. So again, it is up to you to focus and relax and how deeply hypnotized you becomes depends totally on how much you allow yourself to focus and relax. What you need to understand is that your active participation is key to the total success of the hypnosis

In the beginning of the session, you are asked to breathe and relax along with the Hypnotherapist. This enables you to step away from your normal conscious thoughts and to enter into the hypnotic state. Once you start to relax, there will be signs that signal that you have entered into the state of hypnosis. Some of the signs may include: a change in your breathing, eye fluttering, a change in your facial coloration, signs that your body is processing the suggestions as I give them and many more subtle yet observable indication of hypnosis.

Once you have achieved the state of hypnosis, very safe, positive, uplifting suggestions are given that will enable you to achieve your goals. Your mind will automatically accept any of the suggestions that are appropriate for you to accept. Early in the session, you are given a suggestion that you will only accept suggestions that are truly within your highest good. This will enable your mind to ignore any suggestions that are less than ideal for you. .During the session, you will always be in control because your subconscious mind is always aware even if you were to drift off and fall asleep.

When the time is right, the session ends by having you slowly move, stretch and finally open your eyes, becoming wide awake, alert and clear. That's it! Well actually, that is the beginning of your success in achieving the goal(s) you have set for yourself.
